No, seriously, I do. I LOVE cake, you really have no idea how much....

Welcome to my new blog. I should let you know that my passion for cake began in the winter of 2006 after the birth of my second son. I found a cake that I love and then ate it every day....EVERY day...I kid you not! From there I began looking at cakes in whole new way and found that I really appreciate a good cake. I have recently started a cake decorating course and hope one day to be the maker of my own delicious cakes; to make them not only for myself but for others to enjoy too (yes! I have finally decided to share!!). Follow me in my journey from cake connoisseur to cake decorator!! Enjoy...I know I will!!

This one is for Lucas....like Ava says "I like Lucas"...

One of my newphews has turned 8 and requested a computer themed party. His mother could not find sufficient decorations etc to fulfill this request so he graciously agreed on a generic theme as long as his cake was a computer! Of course my sister must oblige this request and put in an order for a computer cake (gulp!!).

I decided to make the screen out of rice crispie treats since I could not figure out how to do it successfully with cake..

The main body and the keyboard are made out of cake. The keys on the keyboard are made out of gumpaste/fondant and because Lucas is blind I put the letters in braille on the keyboard. I'm hoping I did it right and didn't screw it up, because that child is a little genius and will know immediately if I buggered it at all!

And this is the final product!! It was meant to be orange and yellow, but the orange once mixed with white fondant ended up turning peachy in color...over all I am happy with it given it is my first attempt at a fondant cake since my class last fall. I hope Lucas and his friends enjoy it!!

You did an awesome job! And Lucas could read the keyboard so you nailed it right on! Thanks so much for all your hard work :)
